Jesus’ Greatest Hits: The Love Album

Jesus’ Greatest Hits: The Love Album

Brrrrrr! February sure seems like it’s one of the coldest months of the year, doesn’t it! It’s less than a week away from the month of love, and as I drove out of the garage this a.m, the thermometer on my dashboard read: -8°. That’s enough to make me just wanna snuggle under a comfy quilt and daydream about the 13 months I enjoyed under tropical skies.

Oh, how I miss the warm winter days in the Caribbean. Truly, if the temps fell below 70°, we’d put on our sweatshirts and jeans. We loved the winter; the temps were mild, and the skies were sunny and bright.

My mornings had routine then, just as they do today. On workdays, I’d board the bus to ferry landing from where I’d take the slow boat to work. The ride from Windward to Leeward was just enough time to read a bit, daydream, and listen to my discman. Donna Lewis seemed to be one of my fav’s in those days; she had a couple of hit songs, both about love of course.

If Jesus could write a love song, how do you think it would go? Better yet, if he had a greatest hits album, all about love, of course, what do you think some of the titles might be? (It might need to be a double album, right?) How about some of these?

Jesus’ greatest hits were, and still are, all about love. Every. Single. One of them.

He came to this earth because of his deep love for you, and He gave his life because of his infinite love for you. In love, he called his disciples to learn from him, so that we could know Him. In love, he helped the helpless; loved the unlovable; healed the sick; and raised the dead. He is the author of our lives; and he wrote for us the best love sonnet ever penned.

If there ever was one, John 3:16–17 is the quintessential excerpt about his great love (for us). The Apostle John recorded his words:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Jesus loved you so much that he gave his life for yours. He might as well have just said, “I will die 4U!” There was no mountain high or valley low enough that he wouldn’t have traversed to rescue you from evil. When Satan thought he had you, Jesus’ love found a way to redeem you. His love for you is endless, because he just can’t stop loving you.

I know you know all these things, but I urge you: spend a few extra moments this month and think how vast God’s love for all of us is. Think about all of Jesus’ Greatest Hits on His album called Love. He signed the back cover with X’s and O’s, and a little note that says, “Love, Always and Forever, Jesus!”

May the Lord our God, Jesus Christ, bless you immeasurably with his love.
