Sabbath Saturdays—I adore my one day of rest. We sleep in for as long as the dogs allow it and lounge in our jammies until we feel like moving. This morning was just that, and honestly, it was great.
Around noonish (as has become our new wintertime routine), my wife headed out with the girls to try their luck at BINGO for the afternoon. (She didn’t win. Gosh dang it.) As for the boxer bunch boys and me, we just kinda hung out and did… whatever.
While the boys guarded the house with their eyelids shut, I moseyed upstairs, turned on my PC, and registered for a new streaming program. A 14-day free trial? Can’t beat that.
If you haven’t heard, I’m gearing up to start vlogging my blog, adding a video option for those who’ll never find me on Facebook or click over to my website. Now, making a stock-standard video? That’s no problem. That’s the tried-and-true way; I’ve done that hundreds of times before. Yada, yada. But live-streaming, interviewing, or just adding elements with a bit of pizzazz—that’s all kind of new to me.
Enter Riverside.fm.
I like to think I’m tech-savvy, but even this software platform comes with a bit of a learning curve. Thank goodness for YouTube tutorials. Yet even then, all afternoon it was trial and error. Failure and more failure. And just when I thought I was getting it down, I encountered glitches, canine interruptions, and other issues I hadn’t anticipated. Like all things in life, even what should be an easy enough platform has a learning curve.
All good things in life are like that, aren’t they? Being a devoted follower of Jesus Christ has a learning curve too. For some people, simply believing (in God or Jesus) is a difficult hill to climb. For others, believing is a cakewalk, yet walking in Christ’s footsteps is an arduous journey with every step.
Listen to what the Apostle Paul wrote; it’s fitting for today’s theme:
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT
I love that.
No matter the learning curve, press into it. For when you do, it’ll someday yield fruit and pay off. Today, I’m thanking God for days like today, where I’m reminded that all good things come with trial and error, failure, and a learning curve. Because, if you think about it, without a bit of resistance, how can we gain strength?
